Patna : South Africa (SA) defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets at SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa, on day 3 on December 28, 2018, riding on an unbeaten 63 in 148 balls with 11 fours by Hashim Amla and a dogged 50 in 123 balls with 10 fours by opener Dean Elgar. Set a target of 149, South Africa scored 151/4 racing to victory in 50.4 overs. Fast bowler Duanne Olivier, 26, who took 11 wickets in the match was declared Man of the Match. South Africa are now 1-0 up in the three match series.
This test will be remembered for the fact that the rival captains : Faf du Plessis (SA) and Sarfraz Ahmed (Pakistan), scored zero in both the innings of this test match. Pakistan had scored 181 in their first innings and 190 in the second. South Africa were all out for 223 in their first innings and 151/4 in the second innings.
