Patna : Sourabh Verma, India, 26, India, qualified for the main draw of Toyota Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament, at Indoor Stadium Huamark, Bangkok, Thailand, on July 30, 2019, by winning both his qualifying round matches.
Sourabh Vrerma, the World No 45, first beat World No 150 Kantawat Leelavechabutr, Thailand, 21-18, 21-19 in 53 minutes and then defeated World No 52 Zhou Ze Qi, China, in three-games 11-21, 21-14, 21-18 in 62 minutes in the second qualifying match coming from behind. But, World No 68 Ajay Jayaram, India, lost to Zhou Ze Qi in his first qualifying match. Sourabh will face 7th seed Kanta Tsuneyama, Japan, in the first round on July 31, 2019.
In the women’s section, World No 105 Sai Uttejetha Rao Chukka, 20, India, beat World No 53 Brittney Tam, Canada, in three- games 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 in 52 minutes in the qualifying round to enter the main draw. She will face World No 21 Chen Xiao Xin, China, in the first round on July 31,2019.
