Sasaram : Due to heavy rains for the last three days in Rohtas district, the water level of river Sone has risen and entered several low lying areas and some villages on the banks of the river under Bikramganj sub-division causing heavy loss to the farmers whose standing vegetable crops have been damaged though the river is still flowing below the danger mark.

The ongoing work on Daudnagar-Nasariganj bridge over river Sone river has come to a grinding halt and even diversion road constructed from Jamalpur Ghat to Daudnagar to facilitate the people  ply their small vehicles to reach Daudnagar, Patna and Gaya was closed as the flood water is flowing on the road. The rising water level of the river is posing threat to Zafar Shaheed Baba Mazaar at Nasariganj, cemetery, Payhari Baba Ki Kutia at Bikramganj, and an Urdu Middle School at Hariharganj as the swirling Sone is flowing just beside them.

Rohta DM Animesh Kumar Parashar has directed all the officials to visit the flood affected areas and keep vigil round the clock on the flood situation. He also directed the officials to ensure ferrying of government boats and check ferrying of private boats in the river to ensure safety of the people.
