Patna : World No 5 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Son Wan Ho, 30, South Korea, beat reigning Olympic Champion and World No 4 Chen Long, 30, China, in straight games 21-17, 21-19 in the final in 55 minutes at Axiata Arena, Kualalumpur, Malayasia, to lift the men’s singles titles at Malaysia Masters on January 20, 2019.
Son Wan Ho, the 4th seed, won 42 rallies in the match to 36 by Chen Long, the 3rd seed. Son Wan won 5 consecutive points in the match to 7 by Chen Long. Chen Long, however, still leads Son Wan 11-6 head to head. Son Wan Ho has won 6 career titles while Chen Long, a two-time former World Champion, has won 29 career titles.
