Patna : Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys, both from US, reached their first Grand Slam final on September 7, 2017, at the US Open and fight for the US Open Women’s title on September 9 at Flushing Meadows in Newyork. It will be first all American US Open final since 2002 when Serena Willims defeated older sister Venus Williams.
Unseeded Stephens defeated seven time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams, 37, 6-1, 0-6, 7-5 in the semi- finals while Keys, the 15th seed, defeated 20th seed CoCo Vandeweghe 6-1, 6-2. Keys had lost in the first round of French Open in 2017. Both Stephens and Keys are very close friends. Incidentally, all the four semifinalists were Americans.
