Saharsa : Police Constable Mohd Farooq Alam, who was killed in an encounter with criminals at Marhaura Market under Marhaura police station in Saran District in North Bihar, was a native of village Gamharia under Baidyanathpur Police Out Post in Sahara District and had got married just 11 months back.
Farooq was part of an SIT team which had gone to Marhaura to arrest some criminals. An SI Mithilesh Kumar Sah was also killed in the encounter while one constable was injured.
Farooque had come to his village during Bakrid on vacation. His father said that he came to know about Farooq’s death around 9 pm on August 20, 2019, when his neighbour received a call to this effect on his phone. He described his son as a great fighter. Farooq’s brother-in-law said that the local police station had also informed about it. The officials of local police station also visited Farooq’s house, he said and added that Saharsa SP Rakesk Kumar also visited the place late in the night on August 20, 2019. Farooq’s aunt said that her nephew died fighting the criminals and it was a matter of great pride.
