Patna : Sri Lanka crushed South Africa by 199 runs in the second test on the 4th day at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, on July 23, 2018, to clinch the two-test series 2-0. South Africa were all out for 290 in 86.5 overs in their second innings riding on 101 by Theunis de Bruyn in 232 ball with 12 fours and 63 in 98 ball with 4 fours by Temba Bavuma. Dean Elgar made 37. For Sri Lanka, veteran spinner Rangana Herath took 6/98 while fellow spinners Dilruwan Perera and Akila Dhananjaya took two wickets each.

South Africa had scored only 124 runs in their first innings in 34.5 overs with Captain Faf du Plessis scoring 48. Akila Dhananjaya took 5/52 while Perera took 4/40. Herath took 1/32.

Sri Lanka had made 338 in their first innings and 275/5 in their second innings. For South Africa, spinner Keshav Maharaj took 12 wickets in the match including 9/129 in the first innings.
