SL 83/3 in 2nd innings of 1st test against SA, need another 221 runs to win match

Patna : Sri Lanka (SL) were 83/3 in their second innings at stumps on day 3 of the 1st test against South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban, South Africa, on February 15, 2019, with Oshada Fernando batting on 28 with 4 fours and Kusal Perera batting on 12 with 2 fours. Sri Lanka need to score another 221 runs to win the match with 7 wickets in hand and two days’ play still left. Opener Dimuth Karunaratne fell to medium fast bowler Vernanon Pbhilander for 20 while his opening partner Lahiru Thirimanne fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for 21 with 3 fours. Kusal Mendis fell to fast bowler Duanne Olivier for duck.

Earlier, South Africa were all out for 259 in 79.1 overs in their second innings with captain Faf du Plessis, who had scored 35 in the first innings, scoring 90 in 182 balls with 11 fours and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock, who had scored 80 in the first innings, scoring 55 in 62 balls with 6 fours. Sri Lanka spinner Lasith Embuldenya took 5/66 while medium fast bowler Vishwa Fernando took 4/71. Kasun Rajitha took one wicket.
