Ara: For Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, to get grant from the University Grant Commission (UGC) and  National Higher Education Campaign, RUSA,  all its the constituent units should  be accredited to NAAC but only one of 17 constituent colleges under the university has so far got NAAC accreditation.  Mahila College Dalmianagar in Rohtas district was recently accredited to the NAAC and was given B grade.

Due to lackadaisical approach of the respective college administrationsz, 16 constituent units of the VKSU have not been accredited to the NAAC so far despite several reminder by the Vice-Chancellor (VC), VKSU, in this regard.  The VKSU and its constituent colleges have started preparation for accreditation to the NAAC. The VKSU administration has allotted Rs one lakh to each department of the university to maintain basic amenities in the departments. Eight classes have been upgraded to smart class. The university administration, reportedly, will send SSR report to the NAAC this month.

VC Leela Chand Sah said that six out of 16 constituent colleges had submitted SSR report and a team of NAAC would inspect these colleges soon before giving them accreditation. These colleges are S B College, Ara, Mahanth Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalay (MMMM), Ara, SVP College, Bhabhua in Kaimur, D K College, Dumraon, S V College, Buxar, and A M College, Bikramganj. The university administration had allotted Rs. 10 lakh to each of these college for upgrading basic amenities in colleges so that the NAAC team gives them higher grading.

The VC said that the university was trying hard for accreditation of all the constituent colleges under the VKSU and had organized several workshop for the purpose to make the college administrations of the minutes of the NAAC. He said that some colleges are not showing keen interest in getting NAAC accreditation otherwise over half a dozen colleges would have been accredited to the NAAC so far. He said all colleges had necessary infrastructure but need to upgrade it. He said though some colleges had submitted SSR report and others had been directed to submit SSR at the earliest. He said if colleges were not accredited to NAAC their grant might be stopped.
