Giridih :A team of security forces engaged in anti – Maoist operations recovered six can bombs weighing 5 kg to 10 kg from Maniyadih forests areas near Dongapahari under Tundi police station in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand on Friday afternoon. The place is located near Dhanbad – Giridih border, about 40 km from district headquarters  Dhanbad and just about 25 km from Giridih district.  

Police said the bombs were planted inside a culvert in a partially constructed road connecting Dhanbad – Giridih main road from Dongapahari of Tundi and portions of Parasnath regions. According to the police, the bombs were recovered  when a team of security forces comprising state police, Jharkhand Jaguar and CRPF were on a Long Range Patrolling (LRP) across the Maoists strongholds under Tundi police station and suburban forest areas.

“Targeting the security forces, the bombs were planted inside a culvert, which is mostly used by the security forces to reach inaccessible and remote areas of the terrain. In the mean time, we received the information regarding the possible violent attack by the Maoists, though we stumbled on 6 can bombs. While four bombs weighed about 10 kg the other two weigh are more than 5 kg each,” said the Dhanbad SSP Surendra Kumar Jha, who led the operation team.
