Munger: Condition returned to normal on Munger Sadar Hospital campus on Saturday after two days of turmoil. Patients from remote areas and those adjoining the district headquarters were seen rushing to the sadar hospital as all the departments and emergency services were found functining since the morning.

The campus of the sadar hospital had become deserted on Thursday since 6 am due to flash strike by the doctors and para- medical staff of the hospital following assault on Dr Rajiv Kumar on August 31 night in emergency room by attendants of a woman patient including her husband. The strike was, however, called  off on the assurance of the police that proper security would be provided to the doctors in future.

Dr Rajiv was thrashed by the attendants of a female patient who was brought over to sadar hospital for treatment at around 9 pm from Jamalpur but was declared “brought dead” by the doctor. Kailash Prasad Vimal, husband of the woman patient, alleged that the doctor on emergency duty had declared his wife dead without examining her. He claimed that she was alive then but the doctor was negligent. After  verbal duel, the  attendants allegedly turned  violent and when the doctor was being thrashed, the medical officer tried to escape but he was chased by the mob and  assaulted with fists and blows. Four persons including Kailash were arrested by the police who rushed there after getting information.

Kotwali police instituted an FIR against four persons including Kailash Prasad Vimal, husband of the woman patient ,and his three relatives:  Manish Kumar Yadav, Pankaj Yadav and Kundan Kumar.
