Patna: The Special Investigating Team (SIT), Patna Police, investigating the much-publicised Intermediate Exam  Toppers Scam, carried out raids in Aurangabad and Gaya district on Wednesday in connection with the swindling of Rs. 8.5 crore in purchase of answer-books from a Gujarat based firm Bindiya Enterprises by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB).

Senior SP (SSP), Patna, Manu Maharaj said SIT teams went to Gaya and Aurangabad districts on a tip off. He said that the SIT team arrested one Ajay Kumar and recovered 19 bundles of copies from his house in Aurangabad.  An accountant in Magadh University has also been arrested by SIT team in Gaya, he added.

Meanwhile, police sources in Aurangabad district said that the SIT team conducted raid at the house of one Ajay Kumar and recovered 19 bundles of copies of BSEB from his house located at Veer Kuer Singh Colony. If police sources are to be believed, Kumar is district president of Hindustani Awami Morcha. Patna SIT team led by SI rank officer Jyoti Punj reached Aurangabad and in co-ordination with Town police station, Aurangabad, conducted raid at the house of Ajay Kumar. Kumar was interrogated by the police officials.

If police sources are to be believed, Ajay revealed that the copies seized by the police team was stocked at his house in February, 2016, allegedly at the behest of a the then senior deputy collector (SDC) officer.

A senior police officer on condition of anonymity said that Ajay had developed cordial relationship with the said deputy collector as he was a supplier to Aurangabad divisional jail. The said deputy collector was then holding the additional charge of jail superintendent. Members of the SIT team said that Ajay would be taken to Patna where SSP, Patna, Manu Mahraj, heading the SIT Team, would interrogate him.

It may be mentioned here that earlier two persons: Rajkishore Gupta, a kabadi dealer of Gola Road at Danapur, and Rajnikant, a stationary shop-owner, were arrested by the Patna Police in this connection on August 16.
