Patna : World No 3 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, entered the women’s singles quarter-finals of BWF China Open 2018 on September 20, 2018, at Changzhou, China. Sindhu beat World No 24 Busanan Ongbamrungphan, Thailand, in a tough three-set thriller 21-23, 21-13, 21-18 in the second round in 69 minute.

Three time World Champion and reiging Olympic champion Carolina Marine, Spain, also entered the QFs beating Sakaya Takahashi, Japan, in the second round. World No 6 Marin beat World No 13 Takahashi in three-sets 21-16, 14-21, 21-9 in 54 minute. Marin had recently won the Japan Open singles title.

In the men’s section, World No 4 Kento Momota, 24, Japan, comfortably defeated World No 9 Kenta Nishimoto, Japan, 21-9, 21-9 in 30 minute to enter the QFs of the tournament.

World No 5 Chou Tien Chen, Chinese Taipei, beat World No 21 Kantaphon Wangcharoen, Thailand, 21-14, 21-11 in 28 minute in the second round on September 20 to enter QFs.

World No 11 NG Ka Long Angus, Hong Kong, also entered the QFs beating World No 12 Jonatan Christie, Indonesia, 21-18, 21-16 in the second round in 39 minute.
