Patna : World No 7 and 2019 World Champion P V Sindhu, 25, India, who had lost her first two Group Stage matches at HSBC BWF World Tour Finals at Bangkok, Thailand, beat World No 13 Pornpawee Chochuwong, 23, Thailand, in straight games 21-18, 21-15 in 42 minutes on January 29, 2021, for her first win in the tournament in three matches.
Sindhu won 42 rallies in the match to 33 by Pornpawee Chochuwong, who had stunned World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 26, Taiwan, on January 28, 2021. The Indian won 7 consecutive points during the match to 3 by Chochuwong, who has won two Group Stage matches. Sindhu now leads Chochuwong 4-1 Head to Head.
Sindhu had lost to World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying on January 27, 2021, and to World No 5 Ratchanok Intanon, 25, Thailand, on January 28, 2021.
