Patna : Simona Halep, 27, Romania, Caroline Wozniacki, 28, Denmark, and Angelique Kerber, 30 Germany, remain World No 1, 2, and 3 in the WTA rankings released on October 8, 2018, with 7,421 points, 6,490 points, and 5,400 points respectively but  Naomi Osaka, 20, Japan, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 4 with 4,770 points.

Elina Svitolina, 24, Ukraine, is World No 5 with 4,350 points while Karolina Pliskova, 26, Czech Republic, is World No 6 with 4,345 points. Petra Kvitova, 28, Czech, has dropped 3 places to be ranked World No 7 with 4,255 points while 2017 US Open Champion Sloane Stephens, 25, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 8 with 4,022 points.

Aryna Sabalenka, 20, Belarus, has jumped 5 places to be ranked World No 11 with 3,265 points while Anastasija Sevastova, 28, Latvia, has jumped 8 places and is ranked World No 12 with 3,240 points. Former Wimbledon and French Open Champion Garbine Muguruza, 24, Spain, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 13 with 3,170 points.

Serena Williams, 37, USA, is World No 17 with 2,976 points. Former French Open Champion Jelena Ostapenko, 21, Latvia, has slipped 5 places and is ranked World No 18 with 2,863 points. Qiang Wang, 26, China, has jumped 4 places and is ranked World No 24 with 2,085 points. Winner of 5 Grand Slam titles Maria Sharapova, 31, Russia, has slipped one place and is ranked World No 26 with 1,883 points.
