Ara : One Brij Singh, a betelshop owner, was killed while five others including an ASI injured at village Bhagwatpur under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district in a group clash on January 6, 2019, late evening.

Police brought the deceased to the Sadar Hospital, Ara, for postmortem and admitted the injured there. The incident took place when a shopkeeper refused to give a cigarette on credit. A named FIR has been lodged with Chandi police station against four persons including ASI Radha Mohan Singh posted in Madhepura.

SHO, Chandi police station, said that Brij Singh had a makeshift betelshop at village Bhagwatpur. On January 6 late evening, Brij Singh and his son Rajesh Singh were at the shop when the named accused arrived and demanded cigarette on credit but Rajesh Singh refused to give the cigarette on credit and demanded money. At this, the accused attacked the father -son duo with traditional weapons. In the melee, the accused were also injured.
