Muzaffarpur : SI cum SHO, Panapur police outpost (OP) in Muzaffarpur district, Sanjay Kumar Gaur, 35, on July 2, 2017, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. He was removed as the SHO, Gaighat, police station in Muzaffarpur district, within 24 hours of his posting there and made SHO, Panapur OP, and was apparently feeling disappointed.
SSP Muzaffarpur Vivek Kumar while confirming the suicide by SHO Gaur said that he was removed as SHO, Gaighat, as an Inspector was posted there as SHO in view a major incident there a few weeks back in which a bride and her family members were beaten up by police personnel. After this incident all the cops posted at Gaighat police station were suspended and FIRs were also lodged against them. Thereafter, the SSP said, SI Gaur was posted there as SHO but soon an Inspector was posted there as SHO. Moreover, SSP Vivek Kumar said, Gaur was jailed last year for boozing when he was posted at Hajipur in Vaishali district.
The SSP said that police were yet to speak to Gaur’s family member to ascertain the reason behind his suicide.
