Motihari : Seven police personnel including SHO, Mehasi police station (PS) in East Champaran District Sunil Kumar Singh and an ASI were injured as an irate mob pelted them with stones at village Tazpur-Bara when they reached there on April 4, 2021, to rescue a youth allegedly held captive for the last three days by the familiy members of his girlfriend. A jeep of Mehasi police station was also vandalised by the mob.
All the injured were sent to local primary health centre (PHC) for first aid. Police arrested Radha Prasad Yadav & Manju Devi, the father and mother of the girl, and two villagers. They were remanded to judicial custody.
The police team headed by SHO, Mehasi PS, Sunil Kumar Singh, however, rescued the youth from Muzaffarpur. He was sent to Sri Krishna Medical Collges and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, as he was allegedly assaulted by the girl`s family members. The girl had managed to inform police at Patna about the development after which Mehasi police swung in to action.
SDPO, Chakiya, Sanjay Kumar, said that an irate mob said to be supporters of girl’s family attacked the cops when they reached her home to rescue the youth. The mob pelted the cops with stones in which 7 policemen including SHO, Mehasi PS, and an ASI were injured, the SDPO said and added that police arrested Radha Prasad Yadav and Manju Devi, the father and mother of the girl, and two villagers.
Police said the youth had come to meet his girlfriend but he was caught by her family members, who tied him with rope and assaulted. Police are camping at village to arrest more persons involved in attack on police team .
