Patna : South Africa (SA) defeated Pakistan by 17 runs in the 2nd ODI at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, SA, on April 4, 2021, night, to level the three-match series 1-1 Fakhar Zaman blitzkrieg (193 runs in 155 balls hitting 18 fours and 10 sixes) notwithstanding. Pakistan had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, SA scored 341/6 in 50 overs with captain Temba Bavuma scoring 92 in 102 balls with 9 fours, opener Quinton de Kock scoring 80 in 86 balls with 10 fours and a six, and Rassie van der Dussen scoring 60 in 37 balls hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes. All-rounder David Miller scored an unbeaten 50 in 27 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Fakhar Zaman was named Player Of The Match.

Chasing a target of 342, Pakistan could score only 324/9 in 50 overs.Opener Fakhar Zaman was run out for 193. Zaman was on rampage after reaching his hundred and took all the bowlers to the cleaners. He hit spinner Tabraiz Shamsi for 6 sixes, pacer Andile Phehlukwayo for 2 sixes, and fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada for 1 six each.  Zaman hit Shamsi for 3 sixes on successive balls in his 7th over. He had also hit Shamsi for 2 sixes in his 6th overs.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam fell to Nortje for 31. Zaman’s opening partner Imam-ul-Haq also fell to Nortje for 5. Zaman added 68 68 runs with fast bowler Shaheen Afridi (5) for 8th wicket.
