Shahabuddin taken to Delhi amidst tight security

Patna : All windows of S 2 (sleeper ) coach of Sampoorn Kranti Express were closed by the security personnel escorting the train from Rajendra Nagar terminal to New Delhi station on February 18 evening. Common passengers were not allowed to move towards the berths between 1 and 24 as they were reserved for the special task force jawans. The coach had a VIP passeneger in RJD vice-president and former Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin. As train reached Patna junction, all passengers with reservations in S 2 were denied entry into the coach and asked to move
to neighbouring coaches.

Hundreds of supporters of Shahabuddin, who had assembled on platform number 2 of Rajendra Nagar station were heard shouting pro-Shahabuddin slogans. Some of them even boarded the train claiming they would go to New Delhi.
Shahabuddin was being shifted to New Delhi’s Tihar Jail following an order of Supreme Court on February 15 asking Bihar government to shift him to New Delhi from Siwan jail. He was brought to Beur central jail late February 17 night and moved to Rajendra Nagar station in a prisoners’ van from Beur. About 15 commandoes led by a deputy SP rank officer are escorting the don of  Siwan.
Policemen took prisoners’ van carrying Shahabuddin from Beur to Rajendra Nagar through Patna Bypass to avoid his movement on the main streets and avoided Patna junction  for security reasons. Shahabuddin ‘s shifting was ordered by Apex Court on two petitions filed by widow of a slain journalist Asha Ranjan and Chanda Babu, whose three sons were brutally murdered allegedly by Shahbuddin’s men. They had sought his transfer to Tihar to facilitate
witnesses to depose fearlessly in the cases pending against him.
