Banka : Controversial politician and former RJD MP from Siwan Mohammad Shahabuddin came out of prison on Saturday morning after spending more than eleven years in the prison amidst rousing welcome from his supporters and RJD leaders who had reached Bhagalpur from across the districts.
The RJD strongman was released after the Patna High Court granted bail to him in the case relating to the killing of the witness in a case related to another incident in which two brothers were killed in Siwan by drenching them in acid.
Hundreds of his sympathizers and supporters from across the states besides some of the RJD leaders of the region awaited the release of Shahabuddin fsince the wee hours outside the Bhagalpur jail. Many of the Shahabuddin’s supporters were camping at Bhagalpur hotel for the last two days after the news about his getting bail and release from the jail spread in the region. Sources said that some MLAs from RJD and one from JD (U) also were at Bhagalpur to receive the former RJD MP.
Shahabuddin, who has a stronghold in Siwan and is seen as the champion of minorities in the state, reaffirmed his faith in the leadership of Lalu Prasad and in the same breath labelled the JD (U) chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar as the CM of circumstances. He also had a dig at BJP leader and former depuy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and said he and his party do not take his utterances seriously.
