Muzaffarpur : For every one thousand males there 1,059 females in Muzaffarpur district of North Bihar. Compared to urban areas, the situation is better in rural areas of the district. Strict implementation of PNDT Act and change in social mindset has led to increase in the number of female child taking birth in the district. `Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign has come as a big relief to the people. Rotary International is also promoting this campaign in the district. According to National Health Family Survey report, 76.9% males and 53.8% females were literate in Muzaffarpur district in 2016. Muzaffarpur is also the headquarters of Tirhut division.
