Ara : Bhojpur police  on March 31, 2017, resorted to lathicharge on truck drivers near Abdul Bari bridge over river Sone at Koelwar when they refused to remove trucks from the road. Hundreds of truck drivers had parked their trucks on road and blocked Ara-Patna main road near Abdul Bari bridge at Koelwar to protest realization of money by police without giving receipts since March 31 morning.

Police first persuaded the truck drivers to remove blockade but they said would not budge an inch till police stopped realizing illegal amount from them giving receipts (chalan) for the sand loaded on their trucks. When the truck drivers did not yield, police chased and resorted to lathicharge in which over three dozen truck drivers sustained injury.

SHO, Koelwar police station, Sanjay Singh said that police had to resort to lathicharge on the truck drivers as the road was completely jammed and people were facing a lot of problems.
