Muzaffarpur : Several police personnel including a DSP were injured when the supporters of Maulana Qasim Shahidi pelted them with stones when they reached Qamara colony under Town Police station, Muzaffarpur, to arrest the Maulana after a violent clash between two groups over a Waqf Board land. The rival groups pelted each other with stones and even resorted to firing.

SSP, Muzaffarpur, Vivek Kumar, said that two dozen persons including Maulana Qasim Shahidi were taken into police custody for pelting cops with stones. Qamara colonony virtually turned into a police camp after the clash. The DSP, Town, said that the supporters of  Maulana Shahidi pelted cops with stones. He said that the Maulana and his supporters had allegedly been harassing the locals in connection with the Waqf Board land for the past several months and even locked their rooms.

The DSP said that when police reached Qamara colony to arrest Maulana Shahidi, his supporters pelted cops with stones in which several of them sustained injury. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob and arrested two dozen persons.
