Serena Williams, the winner of 23 Grand Slam singles title, demolished 3rd seed and World No 25 Amanda Anisimova, 18, USA, 6-1, 6-1 in just 43 minutes in the semi-finals at Auckland on January 11, 2020. Serena won 5 break points in the match to none by Anisimova. Serena fired 5 Aces in the match to just 1 by Anisimova. Serena also won 7 games in a row in the match. Serena won 29 service points to 14 by her opponent.

Jessica Pegula stunned 2018 Australian Open Champion and World No 39 Caroline Wozniacki, 29, Denmark, in three-sets 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 in 1nhr 53 minutes in semi-finals battling back from one set down. Jessica won 6 break points in the match to 3 by Wozniacki, the 5th seed. She won 8 games in a row in the match to 3 by Wozniacki. Wozniacki though fired 4 Aces in the match to 2 by the American. Jessica won 53 service points to 43 by Wozniacki, a former World No 1. Wozniacki has won 30 WTA titles.
