Patna : World No 34 Ekaterina Alexandrova, 25, Russia,  won the WTA Shenzhen Open, China, singles title on January 11, 2020, defeating World No 36 Elena Rybakina, 20, Kazakhstan, in straight sets in the final. This is her first singles title. She has thus won the first WTA title of the decade.

Fifth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova  beat Elena Rybakina, the 7th seed, 6-2, 6-4 in the final to lift the Shenzhen Open title on January 11. Ekaterina won 6 break points in the match to 3 by Rybakina. The Russian won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Rybakina. The Russian served 3 Aces in the match to 4 by Rybakina. Ekaterina’s winning percentage both on her first and second serve ( 67% & 60 %) was much higher than that of Rybakina (49 % & 47 %).

Ekaterina had defeated former French Open and Wimbledon Champion Garbine Muguruza, Spain, in straight sets in semi-finals.
