Ara : Under the banner of Bihar Secondary Teachers’ Association, School Teachers led by their Bhojpur District President Mukteshwar Upadhyay, staged gherao of the office of District Education Officer (DEO) Kaushal Kumar on March 13, 2020, to press their 13-point demands. They raised slogans against CM Nitish Kumar and officials of the education department.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukteshwar Upadhayay said that thousands of contractual teachers are on indefinite strike and the government has initiated repressive measures against them. He said that the demands of the teachers including Same Pay for Same Work’ and Service Code are genuine. But, the government does not seem concerned at all about the future of students who are suffering a lot due to strike of teachers. He further said that the Bihar Secondary School Teachers’ Association is with the contractual teachers and are on indefinite strike in their support. He added that the strike would continue.
