Bettiah: Some miscreants shot at and injured a teacher of upgraded Government Middle School, Sisawania, under Chanpatia police station in West Champaran district, Shankar Prasad, 58, on December 17, 2018, morning. The injured teacher, in an FIR lodged with Chanpatia police station, has made Vijay Pathak, a named accused in connection with firing on him.
Vijay Pathak, who was recently released from Bettiah jail, was allegedly demanding ‘rangadari’ (extortion amount) from the teacher. When Shankar Prasad failed to meet his demand, he was shot at and seriously injured by the criminals around 8 am on December 17.
Police sources said that Shankar Prasad, who received a bullet in his stomach, was brought over to MJK District Hospital, Bettiah, where the doctors referred him to Patna Medical College Hospital for better medicare. West Champaran SP Jayant Kant attributed the incident to an old enimity. Police are investigating the case, the SP said.
