Patna : Chasing a target of 287, India were 112/5 in 41 overs at stumps on day 4 in their second innings in the second test against Australia at Perth Stadium, Perth, Australia, on December 17, 2018, with Hanuma Vihari batting on 24 in 58 balls with 4 fours and Rishabh Pant batting on 9 in 19 balls. With all top five batsmen including captain Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Murli Vijay, and Lokesh Rahul gone and a long tail left, India are staring at defeat as they are still need 175 runs to win this test.
Rahul was out for a duck while Pujara fell for 4. Captain Kohli fell prey to Nathan Lyon for 17 in 40 balls with 2 fours. Lyon also accounted for Murli Vijay who scored 20 in 67 balls with 3 fours. Resuming at their overnight score of 132/4, Australia were all out for 243 in their first innings in the first session of the play on day 2 riding on 72 by Usman Khwaja and 37 by captain Tim Paine. For India, Mohammad Shami took 6/56 recording his career best figure while Jasprit Bumrah took 3/39. Ishant Sharma took one wicket.
