Saharsa : Kalawati Kumari, daughter of Sattarkataiya resident Birendra Chaupal under Bihra police station in Saharsa district and a Class IX student of Mahant Saryug Das High School, Menha, was crushed to death by a speeding tractor carrying sand on July 18, 2017, at village Khonha when she was returning home after appearing at a school exam.
The tractor driver escaped after the incident leaving the tractor behind. The villagers blocked the road after the incident to register their protest and also set afire the tractor. SHO, Bihra police station, Suman Kumar, and Circle Officer (CO) Satish Kumar reached the spot and pacified the people. The bereaved family was paid Rs 20,000 immediately besides Rs 3,000 under Kabir Antyesti Yojna. SHO, Nauhatta police station, Dravesh Kumar, SHO, Saur Bazaar PS, Manish Kumar Rajak, SHO, Baijnathpur police outpost, Shambhunath Singh, also reached the spot to assist the local police in handling the situation.
