Patna : RJD vice-president and former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin lodged in Siwan jail would be shifted to Tihar jail in New delhi within a week following an order by the Supreme Court on February 15, 2017. Justice Deepak
Mishra and Justice Amitabh Roy directed the Bihar government to transfer Shahbuddin to Tihar jail with high security. The SC also said the trial of Shahabuddin would be conducted through video-conference.

Chanda Babu, father of two youths who were allegedly killed by former Siwan RJD MP Shahabuddin’s supporters and widow of a slain Siwan journalist Rajdev Ranjan, in their petitions moved by leading lawyer Prashant Bhushan,
had demanded trial of Shahabuddin in New Delhi apprehending his supporters  would threaten the witnesses.

On February 14, 2005, Justice N Santosh Hegde and Justie S B Sinha of Supreme Court had ordered shifting of the RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav from Beur central jail to Tihar jail. He was facing trial in the murder case of CPM leader Ajit Sarkar.
