Patna : World No 63 in ATP rankings Tennys Sandgren, 23, USA, and World No 93 Cameron Norrie, 23, Great Britain, will clash in the final of Auckland Open 2019, an ATP 250 point event played on hard court, at Auckland, New Zealand, on January 12, 2019. Top seed and World No 10 John Isner, 33, USA, had lost in the Round of 16 while 2nd seed and World No 13 Fabio Fognini, 31, Italy, lost in the quarter-finals.

Sandgren beat World No 34 Phillip Kohlschreiber, 35, Germany, in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals on January 11, 2019. Sandgren fired 9 Aces in the match to none by Kohlschreiber, who committed 2 double faults. Tennys Sandgren’s winning percentage (94%) on his first serve was much higher than that of Kohlschreiber (67 %). Sandgren also won 3 break points besides winning 3 games in a row in the match.

Norrie beat World  No 58 Jan-Lennard Struff, 28, Germany, in a three-set thriller 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in the semi-finals on January 11, 2019. Norrie fired 17 Aces in the match to 10 by Struff. Both the players committed 5 double faults each in the match. Norrie won 3 break points while Struff won 2. Both the players won 3 games each in a row.
