Patna : World No 16 in BWF rankings Sameer Verma, 24, India, World No 36 Lu Guangzu, China, World No 46 Sitthikom Thammasin, Thailand, and World No 100 Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, Indonesia, entered the semi-finals of Syed Modi International Badminton Championship, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event, at Lucknow, India, on November 23, 2018.

Sameer beat World No 64 Zhou Zeqi, China, in a three-game thriller 21-18, 16-21, 21-11 in the quarter-finals in 73 minutes on November 23. Sameer won 58 rallies in the match to 50 by Zeqi. He won 7 consecutive points to 6 by Zeqi.

Guangzu beat World No 28 B Sai Praneeth, India, the 4th seed, in a three-game thriller 21-10, 19-21, 21-14 in the quarter-finals in 58 minutes. Guangzu won 61 rallies in the match to 45 by Praneeth. He also won 8 consecutive points to 5 by Praneeth.

World No 100 Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo beat World No 138 Vicky Angga Saputra, Indonesia, 21-17, 21-19 in 44 minutes  the quarter-finals. Wardoyo won 42 rallies in the match to 36 by Saputra. He won 8 consecutive points to 5 by Saputra. Wardoyo will play Sameer Verma in the SF.

Thammasin beat World No 52 Parupalli Kashyap, India, 21-16, 21-19 in the quarter-finals in 44 minutes. Thammasin will play Guangzu in the SF on November 24.
