Patna : World No 10 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Saina Nehwal, 28, India, beat 2017 World Champion and World No 7 Nozomi Okuhara, 23, Japan, in a three-set encounter at Odense to enter the semi-finals of Denmark Open after October 19, 2018, midnight.
Saina beat Okuhara 17-21, 21-16, 21-12 in 58 minutes in the quarter-finals. This was Saina’s 7th win over Okuhara in 11 meetings. Saina won 6 consecutive points during the match. Saina had defeated World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, in the second round.
Saina will play World No 19 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, 19, Indonesia, in the semi-finals on October 20, 2018. Reigning Asian Games champion and World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Taiwan, will meet World No 8 HE Bingjiao, 21, China, in the other semi-finals match the same day.
