Saina upsets World no 2 Yamaguchi in BWF Denmark Open

Patna : World No 11 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Saina Nehwal, 28, India, upset World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, in straight games 21-15, 21-17 in 36 minute in the second round on October 18, 2018, at Odense, Denmark, to enter the quarter-finals of Denmark Open 2018.

This was Saina’s second victory over Yamaguchi in 8 meetings. Saina won 6 points in a row in the match to 4 by Yamaguchi. Saina also won 42 rallies to 32 by Yamaguchi. Saina had won Gold Medal in 2018 Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia, in women’s singles event.
