Patna : Both P V Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, India, crashed out of the Badminton Asia Championships 2019 losing their quarter-finals matches at Wuhan Sports Center, China, on April 26, 2019.
World No 17 Cai Yanyan, 19, China, upset World No 6 P V Sindhu, 23, India, 21-19, 21-9 in 31 minutes in the quarter-finals at Wuhan Sports Center to reach the SFs. Yanyan won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Sindhu. She won 5 consecutive points in the match to 7 by Sindhu. The two players are now locked 1-1 head to head.
World No 4 Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, beat World No 9 Saina Nehwal, 29, India, in a tough three-game contest 21-13, 21-23, 21-16 in 69 minutes in the quarter-finals to enter the SFs. Yamaguchi won 63 rallies in the match to 52 by Saina. Yamaguchi won 10 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Saina. Yamaguchi now leads Saina 8-2 head to head.
