Patna : World No 9 Saina Nehwal, 28, India, entered the women’s singles quarter-finals of Yonex All England Badminton Championships 2019, a Badminton World Federation (BWF) 1,000 points tournament, at Arena Birmingham, England, coming back from one game down against Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt, 24, Denmark, in the second round on March 7, 2019.
Saina beat Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt 8-21, 21-16, 21-13 in 51 minutes in a tough contest in the second round. Kjaersfeldt was all over Saina in the first game and won it 21-8 in just 12 minutes. But, Saina rallied back strongly in the second game and won it 21-16 in 21 minutes though Kjaersfeldt put up a strong fight. Saina completely dominated the third game and won it 21-13 in 18 minutes. She was always in lead in the third game. Saina now leads Kjaersfeldt 3-0 head to head.
Both the players won 50 rallies each in the match. Kjaersfeldt though won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Saina.
