Patna : World Number 10 Badminton player Saina Nehwal, India, beat World Number 3 P V Sindhu, India, in straight games 21-13, 21-19, in the quarterfinals at Jakarta on January 26, 2018, to enter the semi-finals of  Indonesia Masters Open, a Super 500 tournament. It was Saina’s second official win over Sindhu, the Number 2 seed, in three Badminton World Federation (BWF) matches. Sainanow leads Sindhu 2-1 head to head.

Unseeded Saina will play World Number 5 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, the Number 4 seed, in the semi-finals on January 27, 2018. Ratchanok defeated World Champion Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, the World Number 7, in the quarterfinals. Saina leads Ratchanok 8-5 head to head.
