Bagaha:  The 70th Independence day was celebrated here with great enthusiasm by educational institutions, government offices and political parties by unfurling the national flags and recalling the leaders who had sacrificed their lives to make India a free country.

A function was organised at Bagaha sub-divisional office campus where SDM Dharmendar Kumar unfurled the national flag. Several persons were given certificates for good services in their respective field, for the betterment of.the society and efforts in maintaining communal harmony on the occasion.They included Tirthraj Kushwaha (media) Gajendra Yadav (environment), Chandrabhusan Shandilya (free child education), Dineshwar Bhramar (literature)  Dr SP Singh (health) and others. Bagaha SP Anand Kumar Singh hoisted national flag at Bimal Kant Chaudhary playground. He appreciated the people for their co- operation in containg crimes and eradicating prohibition.

The main function was organised at Bara Ramana, Bettiah,district headquarters of West Champaran district, where Food and Consumer Protection minister Madan Sahni minister  hoisted nation flag. Sahni highlighted development of Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and said that the state government is committed to the betterment of West Champaran district and Tharuhat Vikas Agency has been working for all round development of Tharuhat region on the border of Nepal. He Piparasi block of West Champaran has been declared open defecation free(ODF).
