Saharsa : Relatives of Suman Kumar, son of Chano Mahto of village Itahari under Baijnathpur police outpost (OP) in Saharsa district, who died during treatment at private Arogya Mandir located at Naya Bazaar under Sadar police station, on July 2, 2017, morning, vandalised the hospital accusing the doctor of admitting the patient to the hospital even as they were unable to diagnose the disease he was suffering from.
Suman was admitted to the hospital on July 1 after he complained of severe pain abdomen. On July 2 morning, the doctor treating Suman had asked for an X-ray of the patient. The X-ray report showed chest inflammation and the doctor administered an injection to the patient. But, after sometime, Suman’s condition started deteriorating and the doctor started suggesting his kin to take him to some other physician or hospital. By the time his relatives returned after fixing an appointment with another doctor, Suman had died. After Suman’s death, his relatives got furious and vandalised the hospital alleging negligence on the part of the hospital.
SHO, Sadar police station, Bhai Bharat, reached the hospital with force after hearing about the incident. But, it took them more than three hours to pacify the kin of the deceased, who were demanding action against the doctor and other hospital employees. Later on, police sent the body to Saharsa Sadar hospital for post-mortem.
