Patna : World No 20 in WTA rankings Aryna Sabalenka, 20, Belarus, beat World No 27 Anett Kontaveit, 22, Estonia, 6-3, 6-3 to win the women’s singles title of Wuhan Open 2018 in China on September 29, 2018. Sabalenka had reached 4th round of US Open 2018. Kontaveit had reached 4th round of both Australian Open and French Open in 2018.

Both the players served three Aces each in the match. They also committed one double fault each. But Sabalenka won three break points to none by Kontaveit. Sabalenka also won 4 games in a row in the match. Wuhan Open is a hard court event and 64 players participated at it. It was the fifth edition of Wuhan Open.

World No 2 Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, World No 3 Angelique Kerber, Germany, World No 5 Petra Kvitová, Czech, World No 13 Daria Kasatkina, Russia, and World No 14 Garbine Muguruza, Spain, had lost in the Round of 16 of the Wuhan Open 2018. World No 1 Simona Halep, Romania, had lost in the Round of 32.
