Patna : South Africa (SA) beat Sri Lanka (SL) by 9 wickets in the rain marred 2nd T20I at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka, on September 12, 2021,  night, to take an unassailable  2-0 lead in the three-match series. SA spinner Tabraiz Shamsi was named Player of the Match.

Set a target of 104 runs, SA scored 105/1 in 14.1 overs with opener Quinton de Kock scoring an unbeaten 58 in 48 balls with 7 fours while Aiden Markram remained unbeaten on 21 in 19 balls with 3 fours. Opener Reeza Hendricks fell to spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for 18 runs.

Earlier opting to bat after winning the toss, SL were all out for just 103 runs in 18.1 overs with Shamsi taking 3/20 in 4 overs while part-time spinner Aiden Markram took 3/21 in 4 overs. Another SA spinner Bjorn Fortuin took 2/12 in 4 overs. Opener Dinesh Chandimal (wk) fell to fast bowler Anrich Nortje for 5 while Dhananjaya de Silva fell to Shamsi for 4.

For SL, opener Kusal Perera scored 30 runs in 25 balls with 2 fours and 1 six while Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 20 runs in 13 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. SL, at one stage, were 59/3 in 7.4 overs.
