Rassie van der Dussen fell to fast medium bowler Neil Wagner for 45 and it was 103/4. Temba Bavuma also fell to Wagner for 23 making it 115/5.
Earlier resuming at their overnight score of 157/5, NZ were all out for 293 runs in 80 overs in their first innings with batting all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme scoring an unbeaten 120 in 158 balls hammering 12 fours and 3 sixes, his 2nd test century while Daryl Mitchell scored 60 in 134 balls with 8 fours. Mitchell and Grandhomme added 133 runs for the 6th wicket.
For SA, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 5/60 in 19 overs while fellow fast bowler Marco Jansen took 4/98 in 22 overs. Spinner Keshav Maharaj took 1 wicket.
