Sitamarhi:  An unidentified criminal carrying a handbag full of crackers looted about Rs 3 lakh cash from Pupri branch of Bank of Baroda in Sitamarhi district on May 11, 2017.Pupri (Janakpur Road) is a sub-divisional town located 30 km east of the district headquarters Sitamarhi.

The criminal posing as a regular customer entered the bank and took position behind Cashier’s cage. After sitting there for 15 minutes, he set afire the crackers. In the melee and fear of bomb blasts, the bank employees and customers fled away from the branch premises. Taking advantage of the situation, the criminal looted out Rs three Lakh from the Cashier’s cage and escaped unchallenged.
SHO, Pupri police station, Awani Bhushan said that CCTV footage had been viewed and raids were  underway to nab the criminal.
