Patna : Three unidentified criminals with their faces masked looted Rs 10 lakh cash from the Chechaul branch office of L&T Microfinance Company under Naubatpur police station (PS) in Patna dstrict around 9 am on August 6, 2018, after taking the Branch Manager Vijay Kumar hostage at gunpoint. They also thrashed Vijay, took the locker keys, and looted the cash and escaped after closing the door from outside. Naubatpur is 22 km away from Patna while Chechaul is 1 km away from Naubatpur.

The workers of a stonechip shop outside the L&T Microfinance Company office, however, told police they had not seen anyone entering the office. SDPO, Phulwarisharif, Rramakant Prasad, did not rule out the possibility of staff involvement in the cash loot. He also said that Vijay Kumar is the lone witness in the theft case making it all the more suspicious. Branch Manager Vijay Kumar is a native of Samastipur district in North Bihar. The money looted was supposedly the amount collected of August 4 and 5, 2018. An FIR is, however, yet to be registered. Police are quizzing the staff members, locals and the branch manager in this connection.

Incidentally, the criminals looted the cash soon after two employees of L&T Microfinance Company had left the office.
