Patna : Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 5 wickets in the 36th match of IPL-12 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on April 20, 2019, night, with captain Steven Smith scoring an unbeaten 59 in 48 balls hitting 5 fours and a six and Riyan Parag, 17, scoring 43 ( run out) in 29 balls hitting 5 fours and a six. RR scored 162/5 in 19.1 overs in reply to MI’s 161/5 in 20 overs. RR openers Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson scored 12 and 35 runs respectively while all-rounder Ben Stokes fell to Rahul Chahar for zero. For MI, Rahul Chahar took 3/29 in 4 overs while Jasprit Bumrah took 1/21.
RR had won the toss but opted to bowl. MI had a disastrous start as they lost their captain and opener Rohit Sharma when the just the score was just 11. Rohit fell to spinner Shreyas Gopal for 5. But, his opening partner Quinton de Kock added 97 runs with Suryakumar Yadav for the 2nd wicket. Suryakumar Yadav fell to Stuart Binny for 34 with a four and a six. de Kock fell to Shreyas Gopal for 65 in 47 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Hardik Pandya fell to Jofra Archer for 23 in 15 balls with 2 fours and a six while Kieron Pollard made 10 hitting a six. Ben Cutting remained unbeaten on 13 in 9 balls hitting a four and a six.
This was RR’s 3rd victory in 9 matches and have 6 points now. MI have 12 points from 10 matches.
