Sasaram  : Rohtas police, on a tip off, conducted raids at two places under Dehri-on-Sone and Dalmianagar police stations on May 28, 2017, evening and seized over 3,200 pouches of country- made liquor from Scorpio and Alto vehicles.

Police seized both the vehicles and a motorcycle and also arrested three liquor smugglers. Later,  the arrested smugglers were forwarded to jail. The arrested smugglers were identified as Garav Singh alias Golu of Dehri-on-Sone, and Babloo Kumar and Bhola Kumar of Dalmianagar.

SDPO Anwar Zaved Ansari said that police intercepted a Scorpio near Jawahar Bridge but the driver escaped with the vehicle. Police chased and seized the vehicle and found 2,000 pouches of country- made liquor kept in gunny bags inside. Police seized an Alto car from near village Mathuri and seized 1,200 pouches of countrymade liquor. He said that the liquor was being smuggled from Jharkhand.

In another incident, police arrested a woman liquor smuggler Muni Devi of village Mahia Bigaha under Dalmianagar police station along with 90 pouches of countrymade liquor on May 28  evening. Police forwarded her to jail. SHO, Dalmianagar police station, Vivek Raj said that he got information that a woman smuggler was on way to Mahia Bigaha via Akodigola in a three wheeler. He immediately laid a trap near tempo stand near Sasaram railway station on May 28 evening. In the meantime, a woman got down from a three-wheeler with two bags in her hand.

Police intercepted her and after searching her bags seized 90 pouches of countrymade liquor brought over from Jharkhand. The woman had kept a bottle of scent in the bags so that no one could get smell of liquor.
