Patna : Rohit Sharma, the Hit-Man, who became the first player to score a century in each innings of his debut test as an opener in the 1st Test against South Africa last week, jumped to a career-best 17th position in the ICC Test Player Rankings. He has jumped 36 places in the rankings. Rohit, who had scored 176 in the 1st innings and 127 in the second, has now five centuries in 28 tests.
Opener Mayank Agarwal, who scored 215 in the 1st innings of the test, attained a career-best 25th position jumping 38 places.
Captain Virat Kohli retains his second spot but has dropped below the 900-point mark for the first time since January 2018. He is now on 899 points, 38 behind top-ranked Steve Smith, Australia.
Fast bowler Mohammad Shami has reached a career-best 710 points that took him from 18th to 16th, two below his career-best 14th rank, while spinner Ravindra Jadeja has leap-frogged Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan to take second position among all-rounders. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to the top 10 after taking eight wickets against SA in 1st Test.
