Patna : Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, has returned to World N0 1 position in the Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) rankings released on May 14, 2018, swapping place with Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, who has slipped to Number 2 position following his quarterfinals loss to Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, on May 11 in the Madrid Open Masters 1000. Nadal, the defending champion, failed to protect his 1000 points due to his quarterfinals loss in the Madrid Open. Nadal had a lead of just 100 points over Federer. In the May 14 ATP rankings, Federer has 8,670 points while Nadal has 7,950 points.

Although Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, remains World N0 3, he has consolidated his position after winning the Madrid Open, his third ATP Masters 1000 title, and now has 6,015 points. Grigor Dimitrov,26, Bulgaria, remains Number 4 with 4,870 points while Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, is World N0 5 with 4,770 points.

Juan Martin del Porto is ranked World N0 6 with 4,540 points while Kevin Anderson, 31, South Africa, has jumped one place to be ranked World N0 7 with 3,660 points. Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, who reached the final of Madrid Open, slipped one place and is ranked World N0 8 with 3,545 points. John Isner ( 3,305), 33, USA, and David Goffin ( 2,930), 27, Belgium, remain World N0 9 and 10 respectively.

Former World N0 1 Novak Djokovic, 30, Serbia, has slipped 6 places and is ranked 10th in the world with 1,905 points while Kyle Edmund, 23, UK, has jumped three places to ranked World N0 19 with 1,905 points. Another former World Number 1 Andy Murray, 30, UK, has also splipped six places and ranked World N0 45 with 1,090 points.

Denis Shapovalov, 19, Canada, has jumped 14 places to be ranked World Number 29th with 1,488 points  following his semi-finals run at Madrid Open. Dusan Lajovic, 27, Serbia, has jumpled 29 places to be ranked World N0 66 with 824 points. But, Pablo Cuevas, 32, Uruguay, has slipped 24 places to be ranked 72nd in the latest ATP rankings.

Yuki Bhambri, 25, India, has also splipped 6 places and is ranked 94th with 663 points. Ramkumar Ramnathan, 23, India, is ranked World N0 124th with 454 points while Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 28, India, is ranked World N0 175th in the ATP rankings with  319 points. Sumit Nagal, 20, India, has slipped two places to be ranked World N0 226th with 260 points.

Arjun Khade, 24, India, has jumped 29 places to be ranked World N0 371 with 122 points while Sasi Kumar Mukund, 21, India, has jumped 45 places to be ranked World N0 377 in the ATP rankings with 115 points.
