Bagaha : Frequent traffic jam on Naraipur railway level crossing number 50T on Narakatiaganj -Gorakhpur rail section under Samastipur division in East Central railways (ECR), which is only way to enter Bagaha town in West Champaran district and reaching Tirupati Sugar Mill from Block and sub-divisional headquarters side, has become the order of the day.
NH 28(b) also passes through this railway crossing but the West Champarn district administration or the railways do not appear inclined to divert the heavy traffic from this area to beside the sugar factory. Candidates contesting the parliamentary and state assembly polls always promise voters that a rail overbridge (ROB) would be constructed at the railway level crossing number 50T and after the elections forget it.
The railway level crossing is located in densely populated area and is merely 7-10 feet wide with no footpath due to which overloaded trucks, trailors with sugarcane and passenger buses hardly leave space on the road for the pedestrians. When the level crossing is closed on the arrival of Up and Downs trains a long queue is seen on both sides of the railway crossing. The rickshaws carrying students to schools and vehicles carrying patients to hospitals are often delayed due to traffic jams on the narrow road. The problem increases when a heavy vehicle fails or gets punctured on the way disrupting the traffic.
Many people including Indubhusan Pandey, president ,Bar Association, Bagaha, Nandesh Pandey of Pathakauli, Manoj Kumar Singh, Satish Verma of Raj colony Naraiapur, Pramod Kumar Singh, Convenor, Indo-Nepal Border friendship, blame the local MLA and MP, both of the BJP, for the situation.
